SUBJECT: International Women’s Day
Swanee Hunt, the former ambassador to Austria and one of our best guests ever on Barry Gordon’s radio show, has written a simply wonderful piece in The Huffington Post (linked below) about the recent gathering for International Women’s Day (This is Women’s Month, you know), hosted in of all places one of the world’s most troubled nations, Liberia, in West Africa.
It is truly awe-inspiring to read of what some of these brave women have endured, and yet have not become demoralized by: It is testimony to the human spirit, male or female.
And as I have written in a comment posted to the article (pending approval by the moderator), any rationalization for the oppression of any group, let alone a majority of the human population, gives “justification” for the physical, psychological, and political abuse of any of us.
So power to the women; power to the people!
