We have had set aside a block of rooms in this hotel, which is close to us, the freeways, and a wide variety of places to eat and shop.

Each room we have set aside has one queen-sized bed; the rate is $89 a night. There are also some rooms with two queen-sized beds, for $105 a night, and a few suites, with microwaves and refrigerators but just one bed each, for $135 a night (perhaps a bit more in 2007).

These rooms are on hold from Wednesday, January 31 through Sunday, February 4, 2007. You may stay less or more time if you'd like.

The hotel prefers Doug to make the reservations, before the first of the year. Please contact us no later than December if you would like us to reserve a room for you.

Driving Directions from the Airport to the Hotel

Travel Time: About 20 minutes

(traffic permitting ... try to avoid morning and evening rush hours)

At LAX, proceed towards the Airport Exit on World Way South.

Take ramp onto Sepulveda Blvd. South. Drive 0.7 miles.

Bear right onto I-105 East. Drive 13.3 miles.

Immediately past the I-710 (Long Beach Fwy) transition, take the Garfield Ave. exit.

Turn left (north) onto Garfield Ave. Drive about 3 miles, just past Firestone Blvd., to GuestHouse International Inn & Suites, 8821 Garfield Ave., South Gate, CA.

(Note that although you could drive north on I-710 and exit on Firestone Blvd., it would usually be very difficult to turn left onto Garfield Ave., because of heavy traffic at that intersection; this route, up Garfield from I-105, is easier to drive and nearer to our home.)
