LET'S FACE THE FACTS:

THE RECORDS OF BUSH VS. DUKAKIS

An Unpublished Letter to

Los Angeles Times & Time Magazine

Let's face the facts.

Fact: While Massachusetts has turned its deficit into a surplus, the nation as a whole has doubled its debt.

Fact: Per-capita taxation is lower in Massachusetts than in the nation as a whole.

Fact: Job-training, day care, and education are more progressive in Massachusetts than in the nation as a whole.

Fact: There is universal health care in Massachusetts but not in the nation as a whole.

Fact: The administration in Boston gets better marks from environmentalists than that in Washington, D.C.

Fact: Drug abuse, especially in schools, is lower in Massachusetts than in the nation as a whole.

Fact: The crime rate is lower in Massachusetts than in the nation as a whole.

Summary: Whites, blacks, and browns; rich, middle-class, and poor; business, labor, and consumers; men, women, and children enjoy a higher standard of living in Massachusetts than in the nation as a whole.

Results: As Vice President of the nation as a whole, George Bush has not distinguished himself; while as Governor of Massachusetts, Mike Dukakis has, in the eyes of his fellow citizens and his fellow heads of states.

Conclusion: Our choice is clear -- Michael Dukakis is better qualified than George Bush to be the next President of our nation as a whole. With our votes, the best America is yet to come!
