The
Diversity of The World of Life
About Linking
Throughout this section, on
The Diversity of The World of Life, I will refer you to outside sources
for illustrations and some additional information. I have searched
long and hard to find what I consider to be some of the very best pictures
(preferably actual photos) of hundreds of representative members of all
the groups of living things, and I have worked long and hard to include in
this site accurate links to the webpages containing those pictures.
Please be aware that when
you click on any of those links and bring up a new window (which you may
re-size and, when done, simply close), you will be entering a site
belonging to someone else. I believe each of these to be
reputable sites. However, I cannot make any endorsements of them -- other than to highly recommend certain excellent
on-line references -- and I do not
claim any endorsements from them.
Please respect the
copyrights of others, as do I. For example, I provide links to
entire webpages, not "in-line links" to individual
illustrations; I display those webpages in obviously separate windows, not
within deceptively placed frames on my webpages; and I do not "deep
link", to individual pages within other sites, if the owners of those
sites state that they prefer others not to do so, even though the law as
I understand it does not prohibit anyone from doing so (My own
websites have been deep-linked, as by search engines, for years; I accept
it as "free advertising").
Nonetheless, always follow the Conditions
for Use, copyright limitations, and all other instructions given on any
site, as for the actual copying of pictures or other materials -- when in
doubt, ask for permission (particularly for commercial purposes).
The Internet was created to
connect people with other people and ideas, for our mutual benefit; and it
is simply in that spirit that I present these hundreds of off-site links
to you.
By the way, please feel free
to link as I have to any webpage within my site, for any legitimate purpose.
It's good to respect the
rights of others (we're not selfish beasts) but now it's time to close this window and get back to The World of Life!
