Archaeans are enormously more complex than even the most complicated non-living "biological entities" (viruses); nevertheless, archaeans are the simplest living creatures and were, undoubtedly, the first form of life to evolve on Earth:  Prehistoric archaeans were the ancestors of all other living creatures, including you and me!
