Radio, TV, & Internet Talk Shows
Hosted by Barry Gordon, longest-serving Screen Actors Guild president, and produced by yours truly.
Barry Gordon From Left Field
Progressive talk radio show on KCAA — then the Air America Radio affiliate in Riverside / San Bernardino, the 25th largest U.S. radio market — in 2006 – 2007.
- The show was created and hosted by Barry Gordon, the longest-serving president of the Screen Actors Guild.
- I produced most of the episodes.
- Through publishers and publicists, I booked most of the guests, which included senators, congressmen, best-selling authors, and entertainment figures.
- I created the show’s Web site, which features many hours of audio archives, indexed by guests and dates and searchable by keywords.
NewsRap with Barry Gordon
Progressive talk show cablecast on Pasadena, California, cable television and streamed on the Internet since 2004.
- The show was created and hosted by Barry Gordon, the longest-serving president of the Screen Actors Guild.
- I produced episodes in 2007 and 2008 that featured phone- and studio-interviews with nationally acclaimed authors and state and local officeholders, including a 2008 Presidential Election Special, featuring Rep. Linda Sánchez and soon-to-be-Rep. Judy Chu, just before Super Tuesday.
- In November 2004, I presented on air my widely circulated, controversial but statistically correct analysis of the 2004 presidential election.
- I was featured as a guest-researcher/ commentator on several shows later in 2004 and throughout 2005.
- In August and September 2005, when Barry was in New York, I produced and guest-hosted four shows, including a live special with survivors of Hurricane Katrina (for which I also created a special section in my Web site Progressive Thinking).
- I created a Web site for NewsRap, which features an indexed archive to many hours of Flash videos.
“As producer, Doug kept my radio show filled with a seemingly endless supply of great guests, sometimes at a moment’s notice. He’s a true magician!”

Barry’s Nationally Renowned Guests
Left Talk with Barry Gordon
Progressive Internet talk radio show heard live on BlogTalkRadio.com during the politically historic summer of 2008.
- The show was hosted by Barry Gordon, the longest-serving president of the Screen Actors Guild, and featured nationally known guests.
- I was the one primarily responsible for creating the show’s format and implementing its technology.
- The show’s Web site at BTR features many hours of audio archives.
- I completely revamped BarryTalk.com to prominently feature this new show on the home page, while including sections and links to Barry’s two other shows, above.
- I included on the home page of BarryTalk.com a widget supplied by and linking to BTR that automatically played the most recent show; on the inner pages of BarryTalk.com the widget could be clicked to play the show.
- I wrote a PHP script that automatically changed a button on BarryTalk.com from Click Here to Go to the Archives! to Click Here to Go to the Live Show! during showtime — in all time zones — on weekdays.
